Rakuzen Publika stands out among Japanese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, offering a blend of delectable cuisine and a cozy ambiance. Patrons have praised the quality of the dishes, particularly the fresh sashimi and the exquisite halal wagyu A5, which is served on a hot stone for an exceptional dining experience. Many reviewers highlight the restaurant’s attention to food presentation, noting how beautifully plated dishes enhance the overall enjoyment.
However, the reviews are mixed regarding service. While some guests enjoyed attentive staff, others expressed disappointment in the lack of responsiveness. For instance, despite a noteworthy birthday celebration at Rakuzen, where a complimentary dessert delighted the guests, some customers wished for improved service consistency. Moreover, incidents of inflexibility regarding closing times have left a few diners frustrated.
Overall, Rakuzen Publika is worth a visit not only for its high-quality Japanese fare but also for the inviting atmosphere. It’s a venue that evokes happy moments, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or indulging in a casual meal. As a food reviewer, I recommend Rakuzen for its culinary delights, while encouraging management to refine their service for a truly memorable dining experience.

Reviews for Rakuzen Publika
Review highlights
Based on 492 reviewsRakuzen Publika is generally praised for its fresh and high-quality Japanese cuisine, particularly its sashimi and specialty dishes like halal wagyu A5. The restaurant’s ambiance and interior design receive positive remarks, contributing to an enjoyable dining atmosphere. However, feedback consistently highlights that the portion sizes can be on the smaller side and the pricing leans toward the higher end, although set meals offer better value. Service emerges as a notable area for improvement, with patrons citing inconsistent attentiveness and occasional communication lapses from staff. While some guests appreciate the personalized touches during special occasions, overall, enhancing staff training and customer care could elevate the dining experience further.
A Wonderful Birthday Celebration at Rokuzen! I recently celebrated a special birthday at Rokuzen and had an absolutely fabulous time. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. To our surprise, they even treated us to a special waffle ice cream dessert — it was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! The Japanese food was top-notch — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. From start to finish, everything we ordered was satisfying. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a memorable celebration. Overall, we had a wonderful time and truly appreciated the thoughtful touches. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy quality Japanese cuisine with warm hospitality!
Food was decent, and the sashimi was fresh and enjoyable. However, the service could use some improvement. A bit more attention to detail and customer care would really elevate the experience. Hope to see better service on my next visit!
Good fish. Good food. Just to be clear that I have eaten here several times over the last days. I came to ask in the morning about some fish to make sure they have and when they close. I have been told they close at 3pm. Now, we arrive at 2:32pm and they don't want to serve us because the kitchen closes at 2:30pm. People take time and spend money to eat in certain places, it feels a little condescending to refuse clients cos of 2 minutes specially since we have been told they close at 3pm this morning. The attitude of the workers in this restaurant is little to no professional, not sure if the owners know about this but if I was the owner of this restaurant I would make sure to accommodate clients even if they are 2 minutes over the time. In any case, not choosing this chain no more, there are plenty of restaurants in this city that serve better sashimi.
The food is great, and the sashimi is fresh. The environment is also nice. However, the service quality has gone down. It’s hard to get the attention of the staff when you need something. There used to be a petite female server with a great attitude—sadly, she no longer works here. You really should provide better training for your staff.
A better quality Japanese food restaurant definitely in comparison to other chain japanese restaurant. I had the halal wagyu A5 served on hot stone. RM88++ small portion (not enough for me lol). Quite pricey i would say, but they had a set meal around RM40++ which worth it. Like the Interior design, cun!
